18.1 Boys Second Preliminary Final
Waverley vs Sandringham
Friday 12th September, 8.20pm at MSAC Crt1
The U18.1 boys have had a tough year with a new core bunch of players its taken some time to get everyone on the same page along with some injuries to key players which has impacted our overall performance all year and still we have been able to achieve a fantastic 15-3 regular season record. We have been running a long distance race and are now rapidly nearing the finish line. The boys showed great character on Friday sticking together by battling back from a 10 point deficit late in the 4th quarter to win avoiding elimination and advancing to the final four state championship game!
We play Sandringham on Friday who were the 2006 State champions with 3 state players and soon to be AFL number 1 draft pick, the reality is we play them 10 times they will beat us 7/10 times we need to ensure through the execution of our game plan that Friday is our night.
We have a crack at them and in finals situations anything can happen, we are very proud of all our boys with the effort that they have all put forward throughout the course of the year and we are simply going to give it everything we've got and most importantly try and enjoy the moment.
16.1 Boys Second Preliminary Final
Waverley vs Melbourne
Friday 12th September, 9.40pm at MSAC Crt1
It has been a mammoth year for the U16-1 Waverley Falcons Team. They came into the season ranked #4 and they certainly have not disappointed. They were premiers in the prestigious Classic held over the Queens birthday weekend which put them in the history books to be the first ever Waverley team to win the event.
It’s now the business end of the season and the boys finished with a 14-4 record. We are two wins away from winning the VC championship... and we'll be working hard to get those wins! Come see us Friday night to support the team.
