The Grand Final of the Under 12 C1 Girls division at the Nunawading Tournament was an all Falcons affair with the Waverley 2 and Waverley 3 going head to head for the chocolates on Monday.

The two teams had met the afternoon before in the final game of the round robin and in a close game the Waverley 3 girls got up 26-15.

Both Waverley 3, coached by Tania Gunther and Waverley 2, coached by Dominic Marshall, had convincing wins in their semi-finals, so the stage was set for a return bout in the Big Dance.

History is full of people who have turned the tables on a previous result: Rocky Balboa did it in Rocky II and III, San Antonio Spurs flipped the script on the Miami Heat last year, and who could forget the West Coast Eagles finding redemption in 2006 in the best Grand Final in sports history. Could the Waverley 2 girls join that list?

Not quite. In a well fought Grand Final, the Waverley 3 girls again held firm to claim the title.

Both teams did a great job on the weekend and should be commended for their efforts. Hopefully they can take the added confidence into the second half of the VJBL season and record some great results.
