Adelaide may have been the proud home of Australia's free settlers back in 1836, but it was the Falcons who were taking no prisomers at the Annual Norwood Easter Classic this year.
We are hearing of some great results from some of our 13 Falcons teams who made the trip over, including the Under 16.1 Boys, who battled hard in the top grade. Nelson Lo sent us in the following report from the weekend and photos.
“ The 16.1 boys had a fantastic weekend and displayed true fight in all games, leaving no opponent unscathed in the Championship division. Friday didn’t have any wins but gave the boys an amazing experience at Adelaide arena against a rivalled Knox 1 team. Saturday saw the boys bag Norwood in a convincing win to then go on to have their “best win this year” over Forestville. The weekend ended with a breakout effort by the boys which still wasn’t enough to finish on top against a well drilled Sturt side. The weekend was a great bonding experience to jump start the rest of the season. A special thanks to Tim Taylor who filled in for the injury ridden team.”
The Under 16.2 Girls ran the train on the competition in A2 grade. An undefeated weekend saw them come up with the goods in the Grand Final, and travel back through Bordertown with the Premiers trophies.
Team Manager Lana Angove reported back to us that winning the tournament was a great reward for the team, but the highlight of the weekend was the time away together. A fantastic effort by the Coach Oscar and the girls and their parents, to make it such a successful weekend.
More news and reports from the Falcons' performance in Adelaide to follow shortly. We'd be very happy to hear from anyone who made the trip across about how their wekeend went.
