Waverley Falcon's U16-1 Boys

It has been a mammoth year for the U16-1 Waverly Falcons Team. They came into the season ranked #4 and they certainly have not disappointed.

The Falcons got off to a cracking start to the season, winning 8 of their first 9 games. This impressive performance earned them a spot in the prestigious McDonald's National Junior Classic held over the Queens birthday. Their good form continued and following some tough games they won the tournament, this put them in the history books, they were the first ever Waverley team to win the event.

The Falcons had a tough second half to the season and finished up with a 14-4 regular season record heading into the finals.

It is now at the business end of the season and the Falcons are well in the mix for the Championship in the U16 VC grade.

“I am really proud of the team. Our team has battled hard all season, in what is a very open race for the U16 men's title. We look forward to testing ourselves against the state's best in the next few weeks in the finals." Head Coach Anthony Dimis said.

"The challenge ahead for us is to show some resilience and battle on, as we have a rare but real opportunity to win the 3 major rep basketball events of the year. The Eltham/Dandenong tournament, the McDonald's National Junior Classic and the VJBL Championship.”
